???? Environmental Sustainability Initiatives in Youth Sports
Neftaly’s Diepsloot Youth Project (DYP) has initiated several programs that combine sports with environmental education and sustainability:
- Community Vegetable Gardens: DYP has established vegetable gardens as part of its community engagement efforts. These gardens not only provide fresh produce but also serve as educational tools for teaching sustainable agricultural practices and the importance of local food systems. Diepsloot Youth Project
- Wastepreneurship Programs: DYP hosts discussions and training sessions with successful “Wastepreneurs”—entrepreneurs who focus on waste management and recycling. These programs educate youth on turning waste into valuable resources, fostering entrepreneurial skills and environmental responsibility. Diepsloot Youth Project
- Youth Leadership in Environmental Advocacy: Through its various programs, DYP encourages youth to become advocates for environmental sustainability. This includes leadership training and community projects that address local environmental issues. Diepsloot Youth Project
???? Broader Environmental Education Efforts
Beyond sports, Neftaly is committed to environmental education across Southern Africa:
- University and School Engagement: Neftaly sets up booths at universities and colleges to engage students on topics like global warming and climate change. These interactions aim to raise awareness and inspire action among the youth. Southern Africa Youth Project
- Wildlife Protection Initiatives: Neftaly runs programs that focus on protecting wildlife, educating young people about the importance of biodiversity and conservation efforts. Southern Africa Youth Project
