Neftaly: Developing Parks that Integrate Future Mobility Solutions
???? Vision
Design next-generation parks that not only serve as recreational spaces but also act as hubs for emerging mobility—linking people, places, and green tech in accessible, equitable ways.
???? Why Future Mobility in Parks?
As cities shift toward smart and sustainable transportation, parks must:
- Connect to transit, bikeways, and pedestrian corridors
- Adapt to micro-mobility (e-scooters, bikes, autonomous pods)
- Support electric and shared vehicles
- Serve as low-carbon connectors between neighborhoods
???? Neftaly’s Role: Youth-Driven Design for Mobility-Ready Parks
1. Mobility Mapping & Needs Assessment
- Youth map current and future mobility gaps in neighborhoods
- Identify how parks can serve as active nodes in the transportation network
2. Smart Mobility Workshops
- Hands-on sessions on autonomous vehicles, EV infrastructure, AI in transport
- Explore how these technologies intersect with parks, access, and equity
3. Design for Movement & Flow
- Plan wide, safe, shaded multi-modal paths (walking, biking, scooters)
- Use wayfinding and real-time digital signage to guide movement
- Integrate AI-powered path lighting and traffic sensing
4. Charging & Parking Integration
- Solar-powered EV/scooter/bike charging stations
- Park-side mobility docks that double as social spaces
- Green “mobility parks” near transit nodes with air-cleaning plants
5. Autonomous Drop Zones
- Safe, clearly marked areas for autonomous vehicles or shuttles to drop off visitors (including elderly and disabled users)
- Real-time scheduling kiosks or app connections
???? Sample Project: “Mobility Futures Park” – Designed by Youth
A prototype designed by Neftaly youth, featuring:
- Smart walking paths with embedded solar panels
- Scooter-share docks integrated into park entrances
- Real-time air quality + congestion displays
- Autonomous shuttle loop between the park and transit station
- Interactive “Mobility Lab” zone to educate visitors on transport tech
???? Benefits
| Community Impact | Sustainability | Innovation |
|---|---|---|
| Safer access to parks for all ages | Reduces car dependency | Makes parks testbeds for urban innovation |
| Encourages active commuting | Promotes low-carbon mobility | Engages youth in real-world problem-solving |
???? “What if…” Discussion Starters for Youth Workshops
- What if parks were the charging stations of the future?
- How can we make parks safer for everyone—from walkers to wheelchairs to scooters?
- What kind of transport will your neighborhood need in 2040, and how should parks adapt?
