Neftaly (Southern Africa Youth Project) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth across Southern Africa. Established in 2005 by Neftaly Malatjie, Neftaly focuses on reducing youth unemployment and poverty through skills development, education, and economic opportunities. With a strong presence in South Africa, including regional offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pietermaritzburg, and Diepsloot, Neftaly has impacted thousands of youth by equipping them with skills, providing employment opportunities, and supporting them in becoming agents of change in their communities.
Supporting Athlete Families in Mental Health Awareness
Recognizing the integral role families play in the mental well-being of athletes, Neftaly is committed to providing resources and support to help families understand and address mental health needs. This initiative aims to create a supportive environment where both athletes and their families can navigate the challenges associated with sports and mental health.
Key Initiatives
- Educational Workshops and Seminars: Neftaly organizes sessions for families to learn about mental health issues affecting athletes, including stress, anxiety, and performance pressure.
- Resource Distribution: Providing families with materials that offer guidance on recognizing signs of mental health struggles and strategies to support their loved ones.
- Community Engagement: Facilitating discussions within communities to reduce stigma surrounding mental health and promote open conversations.
- Partnerships with Mental Health Professionals: Collaborating with experts to offer counseling services and support networks for families and athletes.
